I collaborated with AIGA Philadelphia on their 'Get Out and Vote' campaign, creating a motion graphic that illustrated the polling process. The animation featured character animation, utilizing the RubberHose Plugin in After Effects to streamline the rigging and bring the characters to life. This piece will be featured alongside other artists' work on AIGA's social media outlets.
One of the goals in this project was to ensure diverse and inclusive representation. Initially, I used non-human skin tones to create characters that could resonate with a broad audience. However, based on feedback, I recognized the need to further enhance diversity by incorporating additional physical traits such as varied hairstyles, clothing, and accessories. These updates allowed the characters to better reflect different cultures and demographics, moving beyond just skin tone representation.
The initial design uses non-human skin tones to create inclusivity. It includes a range of ages but lacks distinct variation in clothing and accessories.
This version adds more variation in clothing and subtle changes in physical features, starting to address the need for greater demographic diversity.
The final draft enhances individuality with distinct accessories and hair styles, broadening representation while maintaining cohesion.
